Read section 2.3 of the textbook, then answer these questions in gradescope.
- Section 2.3.2 talks about the characteristic sequences of a set X. Recall what is a characteristic sequence is. If X = {0,1,4,9,16}, what is the characteristic sequence for {1,4,9} ?
- Suppose we have 10 children in a classroom who are lining up to go to lunch. The children care quite a bit about where they stand in line because the closer you are to the front of the line, the sooner you get your food. Would you suggest using a subset or a permutation to model this situation? Why?
